Winter Break

It feels like Colorado in the winter, finally.  The tourists are here in full force and I have a good friend staying with us for 2 weeks, my kids are on winter break, meaning we have a week off from school.  The snow finally came and left the mountains in great shape for skiing.  Yesterday was one of my favorite Colorado days.  There wasn't a cloud in the sky.

Ski Day

Jordan, Jack and I skiid today at the Basin.  Jordan slept until 9:30.  She must have needed it.  I hate to wake her up when I don't have to so I didn't.  I just love the part of homeschooling where I get to dictate what time we start, if we even start.  Today we played hooky.

The finger

Today Jack and I went to the Dr. to find out how his finger is healing.  Good news.  It's healing well and he might not need another surgery.  We are hoping for that.  They took the bandages off and they removed the stitches and the pin that is in his finger that's keeping it together will stay put.  It looks like a stick pin with the ball on the end.

Butt Cold

It is cold here.  Butt cold.  I'm not sure what the deal is with Summit County, Colorado right now but it is not a very fun place to live at the moment.  I'm sure some would beg to differ but if you have lived here for awhile you understand that we just don't get really, really cold and we usually have snow.

Hippie with a Dream

I've been dubbed "hippie with dream" by our chef at work.  After I gave my notice last week that we are moving to Costa Rica for the summer the chef, started calling me that.  Can't say I've ever been called a hippie before but I do have hippie-esque qualities, I guess.  I'll take that as a compliment.  For one, we don't live on the grid so to speak.

Mighty Man

Today was just like any other day in the Mountains.  Beautiful, not to cold, normal.  Until 1pm.  At noon Jack came up from the garage where he was working and had some lunch, hung out and talked and decided to teach Jordan her science class for the day which he's been doing with her.  Lucky me.  He walked back down to the garage to go back to work.  Jordan and I were doing our thing and he runs in the house and yells "take me to the ER!!!".

Storms without snow

Our family is way out of sorts.  You know I'm out of sorts when I get out of bed at 5am.  Last night we had a huge family "storm" and it was awful.  I hate those times the most when everyone gets to their breaking point and it trickles down from one person to the next and even the dog gets nervous.

It's official. Costa Rica here we come.

It's official.  We are going to Costa Rica for the summer.  I gave my notice at work last night.  We are committed.  What a feeling to follow through on a 3 year in the making dream.  Now the hard part is how do we get 20 years of our lives in this house packed up and cleaned up so we can rent to someone who wants to enjoy our first dream.  This place is and has been an amazing place for us to live and raise our girls and I really want for someone to enjoy it for the summer and take good care of it.  I sure hope we can share this house with the perfect person(s).  It is a wonderful playground that I am happy to give up for awhile.  Costa Rica here we come.
